Mission Statement

Our mission is to offer top-quality cruises that become the highlight of our customers’ vacation in Mauritius. We strive to achieve this goal on a daily basis, by taking the time to understand each of our customers' needs and supplying them with clean, comfortable and seaworthy vessels and with expert crews. We ensure that all of your requests are met and your expectations exceeded. Whichever cruise you choose, we aim to make sure you have an unforgettable experience that will make you want to come back again and again. In fact, we measure our success by the number of our repeat customers or the number of customers who came to us by word of mouth.

Our cruises

Bruno François, the Founder and Director of Passion Océane, is a French national who spent over 20 years leading conservation and environmental management projects throughout the world and more recently in the Indian Ocean. His experience and life’s passion for nature led him to establish a charter company that not only offers superb cruises but which does so in a responsible way. We strive to limit the impact of our operations through a range of environmentally friendly practices, and we do our very best to instill the love of the sea in our guests as well as a deeper understanding of its fragile resources.

As Mauritius’s premier eco-cruise company, we offer our guests a unique experience: the discovery of beautiful land and seascapes but also the opportunity to learn about their history and ecology from a trained naturalist who accompanies our day cruises. We travel primarily along the northern and western coastlines of Mauritius, and to the magnificent northern islets which are pure jewels of nature.

Our company actively participates in the conservation of one of those northern islets – Gabriel Island – whose fragile environment is characterized by the presence of several endemic species – i.e. species found nowhere else in Mauritius or in the world. Gabriel Island is also the northern islet which was least affected by the invasion of alien species: over 60 % of the plants present on Gabriel Island are indigenous. Since we are the only charter company offering access to Gabriel Island, we also have an important responsibility in its protection. This also means that our guests are able to discover this natural richness first-hand, through a guided tour of the island if they so wish.

Our fleet

We are the proud owners of two brand new catamarans, Wind Dancer 1 and Wind Dancer 2, which were custom-built in Cape Town, South Africa; they are spacious and modern vessels, built for comfort as well as performance. They offer plenty of shaded space as well as large (and very popular!) sundeck areas. They are equipped with cabins and toilets, and each seat offers a 360o unobstructed view, which makes for great landscape viewing and easy spotting of our abundant marine life.

We also operate a 25ft Pro 2000 speedboat, Wave Dancer, also just launched and ideal for excursions, fishing, dolphin watching and water skiing.

Our team

Our captains and their crew are chosen for their knowledge, experience, skills and enthusiasm. They all hold appropriate first-aid and other certificates and qualifications.
